Author's POV.
After her very emotional vidaai, she was brought to her in-laws, her new home after her marriage.
She wasn't the old Priya.
It was her new identity.
The rituals were performed, in which her husband was by her side, but she didn't felt any involvement by him.
The first night, at her in-laws was spent with her sister-in-law, as she wasn't allowed to sleep with her husband before muh-dikhai, which was to be held the next day.
Next day at evening, she got ready, in her banarasi saree, gifted by her in-laws to her. She was really very happy.
The muh-dikhai was done, in which she got various praises from everyone.
"So beautiful."
"She looks like an angel."
"They will look so perfect together."
Everyone had gifted her gifts, her sister-in-law gave her gold jewelleries, mother in law gave her age-old gold bangles.
The kids of her sister-in-law were cute too.
After the ceremony, she was taken inside her room, by her sister-in-law.
Her veil wasn't allowing her to see properly but she could see slight visions of bed decorated with flowers.
Sunaina made her sit on the bed and muttered,
"He'll be here soon."
Priya nodded her head.
Sunaina cupped her cheeks and murmured,
"Don't make him angry, give him what every bride gives her husband on their wedding night."
What does a wife gives her husband on her their wedding night?
She didn't even knew the concept properly.
"Understood?", Sunaina asked and she nodded her head, still confused.
Sunaina left her alone in the room, shutting the door infront of her.
By the corner of her eyes, she slowly lifted off her veil and saw the room.
It was big, unlike her room at her house.
The bed on which she was sitting was big. Decorated with red and white flowers.
Two wooden chairs were placed on the other side of the room along with a round wooden table, on which some papers were kept.
On the other side, was big cupboards, probably for keeping things and clothes.
She heard the voice of footsteps approaching towards the door and she pulled the veil down immediately.
The creaking sound of door was heard as it opened, and closed again.
Footsteps approaching, her fingers fidgeting, her heart beats racing.
She saw her husband's feet, and partially his figure through the veil, standing infront of the bed, infront of her.
She felt him sitting on the bed beside her and her breathe hitched.
She could hear the breathe of her husband too.
She felt him lying down on the bed beside her, facing towards her.
His fingers slightly touches her's and she shivered.
"Ghoonghat hatao."
She heard his voice, hoarse voice.
She was confused what to do.
She heard him scoffing,
"Kam se Kam dekh toh le hum ki hamari biwi dikhti kaisi hai."
She blushed on his words.
When she stayed still for few minutes, he stood up from the bed.
She felt nervous but within a minute, she felt darkness around her, utter darkness, only some light coming inside from the slightly opened window.
He came back and laid down beside her without speaking a word. She felt awkward.
Is he angry?
She felt feared. Afraid.
Her sister-in-law's words revolved around her mind,
"Give him whatever he wants."
She did a mistake.
He got angry from her.
Her eyes felt moistened. And after a minute, she started sobbing silently.
Sitting in the same position, as tears rolled down her eyes.
She hiccuped unable to control her emotions any more and her sobs increased a little more, enough for her husband to understand that she was crying.
Seconds passed, and she felt someone touching her fingers.
She hitched on his touch.
"Are you crying?", he asked softly, probably the softest tone she had heard of.
She shook her head, wiping her tears off with other hand.
She felt him sitting up beside her.
He held her fingers and spoke,
"Hume laga tum humari shadi se khush nahi ho."
She gulped.
"Is it so?", he asked quietly.
She shook her head.
"I would like to hear the voice of my wife when I question her something."
She heard her husband's tough voice and she replied instantly,
"No,.. I'm happy."
"Good," he said and shifted infront of her.
The moonlight falling upon them, increasing the value of their beautiful moment.
He held her chin by his fingers inside the veil and raised her head up to level their faces.
He slowly lifted her veil up with his other hand, exposing her beautiful face which was shining under moonlight.
His heartbeat stopped for a minute.
A red bindi on her forehead, gold nose ring and red lipstick. Her eyes lowered down out of shyness.
He removed the veil completely and placed it aside on bed.
Black beautiful silky hairs.
Red bangles in her full hands, dark red mehndi and mahavar on her visible feet. Earrings, maang teeka, red saree.
All for him, just him.
He felt something after so long. As if his heart started working again, after seeing his wife.
"Hamari aankhon me dekho."
She shook her head after a pause.
He gulped seeing her innocence.
"You don't want to see how your husband looks?".
Her eyeballs moved, and she breathed sharply.
She lifted her eyes slowly up to look at him.
Her big brown eyes locked with his dark black ones.
And she looked down again.
The only things she saw was his eyes, his eyes that were shining.
"Chaand si sundar ho tum."
She heard his soft and sweet voice and she blushed, her cheeks turning crimson red.
"I had brought something for you."
He said inserting his hands inside the pocket of his pajama.
She heard the tingling noise of bells, anklet bells.
She collected strength and lifted her eyes slightly up.
"Pairr aage Karo."
He demanded but she hesitated and shook her head.
"Let me make your wear these."
He said and she gulped.
He held her toe of one leg and she immediately spoke,
"Nahi, .. aap pairr mat chuiye na."
He shook his head,
"I don't believe in such things, give me your feet," his voice deep and hoarse.
He held her leg and pulled it a little forward.
While making her wear those ank
lets he asked,
"Did you like me?".
She blushed.
He shifted to the other one, pulling it forward.
She nodded her head lightly.
"I know you're shy. But I would like to hear my answers in words, Priya."
